ABOUT Premier Analytical Services

OUR HISTORY
Premier Analytical Services now operates at the heart of The Premier Foods Group, the UK’s leading food producer.
Initially conceived as the research, development and testing centre for the RHM Group (formerly known as Ranks Hovis McDougall and acquired by Premier Foods in March 2007), Lord Rank established the company at High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire in 1963 under the original name of "RHM Research".
The name was changed to "RHM Research and Engineering" but it was finally agreed that "Premier Analytical Services" more appropriately conveyed the scope of services available.
The expertise available in many specialist areas was very quickly recognised by all sectors of the Food Industry. Demand rapidly grew from organisations outside the parent company for our services in these specialist areas.

Premier Analytical Services has now developed into one of the most respected food testing centres in Europe by providing these specialist services, on a strictly confidential basis, to clients both within and outside The Premier Foods Group.

OUR STRUCTURE

Premier Analytical Services has over 70 staff, a high proportion being qualified to graduate and PhD level.

Resources (people / equipment) are organised by Department.

Projects are organised by client and can be cross-functional and multi-disciplined as required.

OUR CULTURE
Premier Analytical Services offers a lively and challenging working environment and is committed to recruiting the right staff for the job and then helping them to develop, on an ongoing basis, to meet the needs of both the business and the staff themselves by:
providing "on the job" training and opportunities to attend external training courses as required sponsoring qualifications such as PhDs, degrees and NVQs operating a parallel promotion system (the Research Associate System) for scientists who want to pursue a scientific career rather than one involving line management.

World-class services in specialist areas of sophisticated chemical analysis such as:

Detection and quantification of GMO's - with the first method for the QUANTIFICATION of GMOs to be accredited by UKAS to the ISO 17025 standard
Mycotoxins - with the widest scope of methods accredited by UKAS to the ISO 17025 standard
Trace contaminants e.g. chloropropanols (3-MCPD) - the method developed by our scientists now adopted as an industry standard
